How to de-bug social media posts that have cached old post meta data

  • Is your social media post showing the wrong image in the link preview card?
  • Have you edited your open graph metadata, but you don’t see the correct content when you share the link on socials?

You may need to re-scrape your link.

If a post is shared to a social media platform and some element of the social preview card is later changed (e.g. featured image), you will need the social media platform to re-scrape the link so that it has the new metadata to display in the link preview card.

You can use the following tools to debug/re-scrape your link, otherwise it will continue posting with the old content. Simply paste the link into the Facebook debugger or the LinkedIn post inspector and the platform will have cached the new metadata.
